Tea from northeastern Taiwan. The island is known to the locals by its former name, Formosa, a designation given by Portuguese sailors (from ‘Ilha Formosa,’ meaning ‘beautiful island’ in Portuguese). Chinese immigrants discovered tea, finding wild tea plants in the 16th century.
Preparation: Steep 2 teaspoons of tea in previously boiled water for 2-4 minutes.
